Model thinking and social networks
The research activity aims at representing the interactions among social aggregations by using multi-agent dynamic models where each agent is characterized by a suitable set of quantitative real data indicators. Social aggregations can be viewed as multi-agents systems in which agents implement specialized behaviors. Indicators and their quantitative time evolutions can be used to represent these behaviors. The agents may have different set of indicators and parameters values. Agents interact by exchanging (part of) the indicators in order to minimize their “local” objective functions: the resulting interactions determine emerging structures (topologies) for the entire social network. Preliminary results have been obtained by analyzing the stability of the Hegselmann-Krause consensus model through a piecewise quadratic Lyapunov approach, which allowed to determine the set of initial conditions for which the consensus is reached.
